When our sewer blocked we called a private plumber who cleared our line but said that he could also see a blockage outside our property boundary. SWC kindly agreed to fix this but the first contractor who came was not very good (as we discovered later). He only fixed part of the problem, left a fence up blocking part of the road for over a month and did a poor job of repairing the road surface.
When our sewer blocked up again our plumber again confirmed that the problem was in the SWC main. SWC sent a crew to run an eel up the main but it broke off in situ so another contractor was sent to replace about 10 m of main.
This second contractor, IPC Projects, was a breath of fresh air. He advised in advance when he would be coming, came when he said that he would, completed a deep excavation and replacement very quickly, kept the site clean and tidied up perfectly. We were very pleased and are now confident that the problem won't recur. Adam Barber (the leader of the team) told us that the source of the problem was that the clay pipes were originally laid directly onto rock, instead of being properly bedded in sand to protect them.
I am passing on this feedback because Adam told me that your contract management staff might not get much feedback from satisfied SWC customers, and as he was clearly a cut above the first contractor, I thought I'd let you know so you could pass it on to the relevant staff in SWC....
